"Clubs capable of maintaining sporting and economic stability will be those that invest in youth development. But this must not be a response to urgency. At Monaco, youth development has long been at the heart of the project. It is a structural model for the club. Many clubs define themselves as training clubs. But this cannot simply be claimed: it must be proven over time, through economic and sporting results," said Sébastien Muet, director of the AS Monaco FC (Ligue 1 McDonald's) academy, to News Tank on 14/04/2026.

Sébastien Muet was speaking as the Principality club prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its academy during the home match against AJ Auxerre on 19/04. In 2025-26, the AS Monaco academy hosts 82 players aged 16 to 20, supported by a staff of more than 60 people. According to News Tank, the club invests between €8m and €10m per season in its academy.
