AFCON 2025 final: sentences against 18 Senegalese supporters upheld on appeal in Rabat (MOR)

The 18 Senegalese supporters accused of "hooliganism" following the incidents that occurred during the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 final at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat (MOR) on 18/01/2026 (Senegal-Morocco, 1-0 after extra time on the pitch, 0-3 following the decision of the CAF appeal board) saw their sentences (ranging from three months to one year in prison) upheld on appeal by the Rabat court of appeal during the night of 13 to 14/04/2026.

The charges included pitch invasion, participation in acts of violence, assaults against law enforcement officers, damage to sports facilities and the throwing of projectiles (seats, metal objects).

At first instance, on 19/02/2026, nine supporters were sentenced to one year in prison and fined 5,000 dirhams (€455), six others to six months in prison and a fine of 2,000 dirhams (€182), and the remaining three to three months in prison and a fine of 1,000 dirhams (€91). In addition, a French national of Algerian origin, tried for throwing a bottle of water, was sentenced to three months in prison and a fine of 1,000 dirhams (€91).
