Netflix: first acquisition of football TV rights in Mexico (Nations League and Gold Cup) until 2029

Netflix has completed its first acquisition of football media rights in Mexico as the platform has acquired exclusive broadcasting rights from Concacaf for the 2027 and 2029 editions of the Gold Cup and the final of the Concacaf League of Nations (men's competitions), the international body announced on 14/04/2026.

Mexico thus joins Canada and the United States among the territories in which the streaming platform will soon be broadcasting football competitions. Netflix has partnered with FIFA for the exclusive broadcast of the 2027 and 2031 editions of the Women's World Cup in the two North American territories.

In Japan, the streaming service has also taken its first step into sports streaming with the broadcast of the 2026 edition of the World Baseball Classic (international baseball competition). This increasingly territorialised rights acquisition strategy complements the broadcasting of one-off sporting events on a global scale, such as boxing matches involving boxer Jake Paul or the NFL Christmas Games.
