Aston Villa FC: North Stand closed in 2026-27 for accelerated Villa Park expansion

Aston Villa FC (Premier League) has brought forward the timeline for the expansion works at Villa Park (Birmingham, ENG), which will now take place throughout the entire 2026-27 season, instead of being spread across the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons, the club announced on 21/04/2026.

The works notably include the renovation and expansion of the North Stand (from 5,000 to around 12,000 seats), which will increase the stadium’s capacity from 42,785 to "over 50,000." The new schedule provides, unlike the previous plan, for the full closure of the stand throughout the 2026-27 season, temporarily reducing the stadium’s capacity to 37,000. Season ticket holders in this stand will be relocated elsewhere at the same price. These supporters will benefit from priority access to return to the North Stand from the 2027-28 season.
