TCS London Marathon 2026: Kenyan Sabastian Sawe breaks two-hour barrier (1h59’30), adidas highlighted

adidas celebrates the records set at the TCS London Marathon 2026 (GBR) by athletes competing in the German brand’s shoes, starting with Kenyan Sabastian Sawe, who won the race by setting a new world record over 42.195 kilometres in 1 hour 59 minutes and 30 seconds on 26/04/2026.

The previous record was held by compatriot Kelvin Kiptum (2h01’35), set at the Chicago Marathon (Illinois, USA) on 08/10/2023, who has since passed away.

"A new era has opened for running with the breaking of the two-hour barrier at the London Marathon," the German equipment manufacturer said in a statement released after the race. Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha also recorded a time under two hours (1h59’41), while Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa set a new women’s marathon record (2h15’41). These three athletes were wearing adidas apparel as well as the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 shoes unveiled by the German group on 23/04/2026, "the fastest and lightest Adizero shoe ever made."
