2026 World Cup: free fan zones and "special programming" in five New York boroughs during the competition

Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York City, Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New York, and the FIFA World Cup 2026 NYNJ Host Committee have announced a series of free fan events during the tournament on 27/04/2026.

These events will offer 39 days of celebrations throughout the competition in various parts of the city: Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island. A range of activities will be on offer, including live viewing of games and cultural events (see below).

"Together, these events form a citywide celebration spreading economic opportunity and World Cup energy across every corner of the city, not just its busiest destinations," according to the New York City Hall.

The New York New Jersey Stadium (82,500 seats) will also host eight matches in the 2026 World Cup, including the final of the competition on 19/07.
