DFL: a €100m loan from Adidas, which also extends its contract as official ball supplier until 2034

The DFL and equipment supplier adidas have entered into "a far-reaching future partnership to jointly strengthen the further development of German professional football," the Deutsche Fußball Liga announced on 28/04/2026.

The agreement, which was unanimously approved by the German league's executive committee, will see adidas invest €100m with the DFL in the form of a loan that will "help to support its own business goals as well as the positive development of the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga." The allocation of these funds and the specific long-term objectives to be pursued through their use will be determined at a later stage by the DFL’s executive committee.

"The financing model offers an important option for investing in the growth of the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga in economically dynamic times. It is a model signal beyond football that the shared goal of further development is at the centre here," Hans-Joachim Watzke, president of the DFL, said.
