FIFA/2026 World Cup: resources to be distributed to all 48 participating teams increased to $871m (+15%)

"Given the commercial success of the 2026 World Cup, the FIFA Council agreed to increase the resources to be distributed to all 48 participating teams by a further 15%, totalling $871m (€744m)," the international federation announced following the meeting of its executive body in Vancouver (CAN) on 28/04/2026. The decision comes two days before the 76th FIFA Congress is due to be held in the Canadian city.

"The increased pot will be broken down as follows:
• Preparation money: increase from $1.5m to $2.5m;
• Qualification money: increase from $9m to $10m;
• Additional team contributions: subsidies for team delegation costs and increased team ticketing allocations totalling over $16m," said FIFA, adding that "the balance of revenues will continue to be redistributed back into global football for the benefit of and through all of FIFA’s 211 member associations."
