2026 World Cup: public transport fares reduced for New York New Jersey Stadium trips

Public transport fares (trains and buses) to travel to matches at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) during the 2026 World Cup have been reduced following backlash from supporters. A return train journey between New York and the stadium, which will notably host the final, has therefore been cut by 34.5%, from $150 to $98 (€128 to €83), while the return bus fare has been reduced by 75%, from $80 to $20 (€68 to €17), according to the BBC, the British public broadcaster, on 13 May 2026.

A return train journey operated by NJ Transit (New Jersey Transit Corporation) between Penn Station (Manhattan) and the stadium located 29 kilometres away normally costs $12.90 (€11).

The New York New Jersey Stadium is due to host eight of the 104 matches of the 23^rd FIFA World Cup, including France’s opening match against Senegal on Tuesday 16/06/2026 (kick-off 15:00 local time, 21:00 CET), and the final on Sunday 19/07/2026 (same kick-off time).
