The Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) and Foot Unis announced that a "global agreement" had been reached for the signing of a collective agreement dedicated to women’s football, effective from 01 July 2026, the players’ union and the organisation representing professional clubs said on 18 May 2026.

"This outcome is the result of demanding and constructive social dialogue. We commend the commitment and sense of responsibility shown by all social partners, Foot Unis, UNECATEF and U2C2F, who, alongside the UNFP, worked to concretely advance the rights of professional players," the two organisations added.

Details of the agreement, which "marks a major step in the recognition, structuring and protection of women’s football in France, will be communicated shortly."

"Three years of negotiations for a collective agreement without reaching an outcome. It is no longer understandable, it is no longer acceptable. The UNFP stands alongside the captains of the Arkema Première Ligue and Seconde Ligue," the union representing professional footballers said on 21 April 2026…
