2025-26 Europa League/final: head-to-head SC Freiburg - Aston Villa FC, on 20/05/2026

With a squad valued at €548m by the Transfermarkt website, Aston Villa FC (Premier League) have a combined player valuation 2.8 times higher than that of SC Freiburg (Bundesliga), as the two clubs prepare to face each other in the 2025-26 Europa League final on Wednesday 20 May 2026 (kick-off at 21:00 CET) at Beşiktaş Park in Istanbul (Turkey).

The Birmingham club posted revenue of €442.4m for the 2024-25 financial year and losses before transfers and exceptional items of €163.4m. Nevertheless, AVFC recorded a net profit of €19.9m over the period, notably thanks to the sale of certain assets, including the women’s team and The Warehouse event venue, to its parent company NSWE Holdings.

SC Freiburg, meanwhile, reported revenue of €162.8m (including transfers) for the same financial year, alongside a net profit of €11.8m.

Aston Villa, who finished second in the Europa League league phase standings, are already guaranteed to receive at least €26.1m from UEFA for their European campaign in 2025-26 (excluding the value pillar), compared with €25.1m for seventh-placed SC Freiburg. The…
