"Like so many others, I am pleased that FIFA’s controversial president (Joseph Blatter) -- finally -- has stood down," said Anne Brasseur (LUX), the president of PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) in a forum entitled "How to restore order at FIFA", and published on 11/06/2015. Blatter was re-elected for a fifth term as the president of FIFA on 29/05/2015, but announced that he would "lay down his mandate" on 02/06/2015.

An extraordinary meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee will be held in July 2015 to determine the date of the extraordinary elective congress, at which the successor to Joseph Blatter will be elected. This extraordinary elective congress will be held in Zurich (SUI), the city where the headquarters of the of the international federation are based, between December 2015 and March 2016.
