AC Milan: CEO Giorgio Furlani dismissed following failure to qualify for Champions League

Giorgio Furlani, CEO of AC Milan (Serie A Enilive) since December 2022, has been dismissed from his position, the club’s owner, US investment fund RedBird Capital Partners, announced on 25 May 2026.

"After the disappointment of last year, the mandate ownership set for the club was to return to the Champions League and to establish a foundation for winning consistently at the top of Serie A. For the majority of this season, we were in the top two positions, with a credible shot at competing for the Scudetto. The final stretch was completely inconsistent with the performance up to that point, with last night’s disappointing loss in the final game turning the season into an unequivocal failure," the fund added.

AC Milan, third in the league standings after Matchday 37 and virtually qualified for the 2026-27 Champions League league phase, were overtaken by AS Roma (3^rd) and Como 1907 (4^th) on the last matchday following their 1-2 home defeat against Cagliari Calcio on 24/05, dropping to fifth place in the final standings and qualifying for the Europa League.
