AFC Bournemouth: redevelopment plans for Vitality Stadium approved by local authorities

"AFC Bournemouth (Premier League) welcomes BCP Council’s (Bournemouth-Christchurch-Poole, Dorset, southern England) decision to approve the redevelopment plans for Vitality Stadium submitted by the club and would like to thank the members, officers and stakeholders who engaged constructively throughout the process," the English club said on 23 May 2026.

"The redevelopment will support the club’s ambition to increase stadium capacity, improve the supporter experience and modernise facilities for fans, players, staff and partners. The wider scheme also includes significant public realm and infrastructure improvements around the stadium campus, including enhanced pedestrian and cycle routes, landscaping and improved accessibility," AFC Bournemouth added.

The stadium, which has the smallest capacity in the Premier League (11,307 seats), is due to undergo work to increase its capacity to 20,000 by 2028, as announced by American president and owner Bill Foley.
