NBA: Nike to be the official sports equipment supplier to the league (2016-17 to 2025-26) for €889m

The American brand Nike will become the official sports equipment supplier of the NBA for the 2017-18 season through to 2025-26, the NBA announced on 10/06/2015. The contract is estimated at $1bn (€889m) by American media, or $111m (€98.8m) per season.

Nike will replace the German sports equipment brand adidas, a partner of the NBA since 2006. The amount of the adidas contract is estimated at $400m (€356m) for the 2006-07 to 2016-17 period.

The Nike logo will appear on the official jerseys of NBA players, which was not the case with previous adidas (2006-17) and Reebok (2001-06) jerseys. "As our exclusive oncourt apparel provider, Nike will be instrumental in our collective efforts to grow the game globally while applying the latest in technology to the design of our uniforms and on court products," stated Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, on 10/06/2015.
