Germany/DFB: nearly 4 million spectators for the 3.Liga in 2025-26, average attendance of 10,470 per game

The 2025-26 3. Liga season attracted 3.978 million spectators, the second-highest total attendance in the competition’s history (4.39 million in 2024-25), announced the Deutscher Fussball Bund (DFB) on 27 May 2026.

The 20 clubs competing in Germany’s third division recorded an average attendance of 10,470 spectators per match in 2025-26. It is only the second time since the creation of the 3. Liga in 2008 that the competition has surpassed the 10,000-spectator mark, following the record average of 11,566 spectators per game set in 2024-25.

Among the other figures highlighted by the DFB:
• 22 matchdays attracted more than 100,000 spectators in total;
• Matchday 31 drew 129,102 spectators;
• More than 45 million spectators have attended 3.Liga matches since 2008.

The three clubs with the highest average home attendances were F.C. Hansa Rostock, with 24,948 spectators per match, a club record for the division, ahead of Alemannia Aachen (23,098) and MSV Duisburg (22,949).
