Germany: framework agreement between clubs and federation for the organisation of the women’s Bundesliga

The Deutscher Fussball Bund (DFB) and Frauen-Bundesliga FBL e.V., the association bringing together the 14 Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga clubs, have reached a framework agreement regarding the organisation and commercialisation of Germany’s top-flight women’s league, the parties announced on 31 May 2026.

The agreement provides for the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga to no longer be organised by the DFB but by the new women’s league from the 2027-28 season, following a transitional campaign in 2026-27. At the end of that season, responsibility for the organisation and commercialisation of the top division will be transferred from the DFB to FBL e.V.

"The framework agreement, which initially grants the competition to FBL e.V. for a period of seven years, defines the legal, organisational and financial relationships between the parties, under a model comparable to that of the DFL in men’s football," the DFB said.

The agreement includes the payment of a licence fee by FBL e.V. to the DFB and, from the fourth year onwards, a ticket levy benefiting the regional associations. The federation…
