Deportivo La Coruña: consultation launched among supporters regarding the club’s name

Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña, promoted to LALIGA EA Sports for the 2026-27 season, will organise a consultation among its members and season-ticket holders aged over 12 regarding the club’s official name, the club announced on 22 May 2026.

Supporters will be asked to decide whether the club’s official name should be modified to align with the official toponymy of the city of A Coruña. Those eligible to vote will be able to choose between:
• retaining the current name, Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña;
• adopting a new name in line with the official Spanish toponymy: Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña;
• adopting the official Galician toponymy: Real Club Deportivo da Coruña.

The consultation will take place online from 17 to 21 June 2026. The result will be binding, and "the change will only take place if the selected option obtains a simple majority of the votes cast."

The initiative follows discussions held during the club’s first Social Forum and "forms part of a broader process of administrative and institutional modernisation marking Deportivo’s 120^th anniversary."
