Scotland: Celtic FC authorise the reintroduction of standing room areas from the 2016-17 season

Celtic FC (Ladbrokes Premiership, SCO) has authorised the reintroduction of a "Safe Standing" area at Celtic Park (60,800 seats) from the 2016-17 season, announced the club on 09/06/2015.

The measure is expected to accommodate 2,000 spectators in the stadium area. The club will adopt the rail seating system. This process will block the seats in the upright position during domestic matches, allowing spectators to stand in this section of the stadium. This system can re-configure the places into seats for European matches in order to meet UEFA regulations, which prohibit standing room places. "It is a major step forward in improving the safety and security of supporters," said the Glasgow club on 09/06/2015.
