England/EFL: Rick Parry re-elected as chair, CEO Trevor Birch to leave at the end of the 2026-27 season

Rick Parry, chair of the English Football League since 2019, was re-elected for a further three-year term at the League’s General Meeting held on 4 June, the EFL announced the same day.

"Since his appointment in 2019 Rick has brought a wealth of knowledge to the EFL and has been responsible for overseeing the continued growth and development of the League both on and off the pitch. In recent years he has been instrumental in advocating for the introduction of the Independent Football Regulator, as a key pillar of the League’s wider work to protect the pyramid, and ensuring the voices of Clubs are represented in discussions with policymakers," the EFL said.

During the general meeting, Trevor Birch, the League’s CEO since January 2021, informed the Board of Directors that he will step down from his role at the end of the 2026-27 season.

• In addition, Caroline Artis was re-elected for a second three-year term as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the EFL Board.
