Real Madrid: F. Pérez re-elected president until 2030 with 65% of the vote against E. Riquelme

Florentino Pérez was re-elected president of Real Madrid CF (LALIGA EA Sports) until 2030 after receiving 65% of the votes cast in the election held on 7 June 2026.

With 21,471 votes in his favour, the man who has led the Madrid club since 2009 defeated Enrique Riquelme, who received 11,814 votes (35%), in an election that recorded a turnout of around 45%.

Although he had been re-elected until 2029 in 2025, Florentino Pérez announced on 12 May 2026 that he would call new elections. "I made this decision because an absurd situation has been created, driven by campaigns aimed at generating a current of opinion against the interests of Real Madrid, and especially against me. They take advantage of the fact that we have had poorer results, but this is something we accept because in sport, you do not always win," he explained.

Real Madrid finished the 2025-26 season without a major trophy, ending second in LALIGA EA Sports, eight points behind FC Barcelona, and being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) in the quarter-finals. The club was also knocked…
