Italy/Stadiums: "France and Euro 2016 are the model to follow" (Tommaso Giulini, Cagliari Calcio)

"I believe the example to follow is France. In 2010, when the country learned it would host UEFA Euro 2016 on its own — unlike the 2032 edition, which will be co-hosted by Italy and Türkiye — French stadiums were almost all obsolete. The only one that met UEFA standards was the Stade de France. A task force was set up to renovate or build stadiums. Two projects — the Parc des Princes in Paris and the stadium in Lyon — were financed with private funds. Marseille followed a public-private partnership model. We are talking about three major cities and major clubs, comparable to Rome, Milan or Naples," Tommaso Giulini, president of Cagliari Calcio (Serie A Enilive), said on 5 June 2026.

The owner of the Sardinian club through Fluorsid Group since 2014 was speaking during the conference entitled "The Future of Italian Stadiums," organised as part of the Festival della Serie A in Parma (Emilia-Romagna, ITA), while Italy will host UEFA Euro 2032 together with Turkey.
