"Although the media frenzy surrounding the FIFA scandal allows us to watch events unfold virtually in real-time, it does not allow us to clearly understand the real legal issues," said Charles Amson, a lawyer based in Paris who specialises in sports law, in a piece for News Tank Football, on 15/06/2015.

"A 47-count indictment was unsealed early this morning in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, charging 14 defendants with racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering conspiracies, among other offenses, in connection with the defendants’ participation in a 24-year scheme to enrich themselves through the corruption of international soccer," announced the US Department of Justice on 27/05/2015. Seven senior international football officials (who were among 14 indicted) were arrested in Zurich (SUI) on the same day.
