FIFPRO: "Historic agreement" with FIFA on player representation until 2031

FIFPRO and FIFA "concluded a historic agreement ushering in a new era of global football governance in terms of cooperation and player representation," the two organisations announced on 10 June 2026, one day before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

The agreement, which runs until 31 December 2031, "establishes a modern governance framework based on social dialogue, strengthens FIFPRO’s representation within FIFA’s institutional structures and paves the way for close collaboration on a series of matters of mutual interest."

Among the main measures included in the Memorandum of Understanding:
• the establishment of a Global Social Dialogue Platform for professional football, chaired and administered by FIFA, which will organise relations between employers and employees with the participation of the confederations;
• the inclusion of FIFPRO representatives on the Football Tribunal, FIFA’s judicial bodies, several standing committees and the Human Rights and Sustainability Sub-Committee;
