Governance: FIFA among the 14 highest-rated international sports federations in ASOIF report

FIFA is among the 14 highest-rated international sports federations in ASOIF’s sixth biennial governance review on the governance standards of 36 such organisations (document available for download) on 10 June 2026.

FIBA, World Athletics, UCI, World Aquatics and World Rugby join the international football federation in group A1 of bodies scoring at least 210 points out of 240. The Association of Summer Olympic International Federations ranked these organisations according to 60 criteria.

The global governing body of football chaired by Gianni Infantino increased its overall score by six points, reaching 218 points. FIFA was already in the top group in the three previous ASOIF reports (2020, 2022 and 2024).

"FIFA was found to have improved in each one of the five categories (transparency, integrity, democracy, development and sustainability, and control mechanisms) following an exhaustive self-assessment that was examined and moderated by the independent sports governance consultancy I Trust Sport," the international federation said.
