2026 World Cup: the MetLife Stadium or the “New York New Jersey Stadium” (USA)

The New York New Jersey Stadium (East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA), with a 2026 World Cup capacity of 80,663, is hosting eight matches (see schedule below) during the tournament, including the final on 19 July (kick-off at 15:00 local time, 21:00 CET).

The venue, which opened in 2010 at a total construction cost of $1.6bn, is also hosting France’s opening match against Senegal (Group I) on Tuesday 16 June (21:00 CET). It is one of the 16 host stadiums selected for the tournament co-organised by the United States (11 venues), Mexico (three) and Canada (two). The New York New Jersey Stadium hosted Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 and the Copa América Centenario final in 2016.

The stadium is owned by MetLife Stadium Company, a joint venture established by the New York Giants and the New York Jets, the two New York-based NFL franchises that play their home games at the venue.
