OGC Nice: Maurice Cohen returns as president after first spell in charge from 2002 to 2009

Maurice Cohen has been appointed president of OGC Nice (Ligue 1 McDonald's), the club announced on 17 June 2026.

Having previously led the club between 2002 and 2009, he returned to OGC Nice in a management role as executive vice-president in December 2025, following the departure of Fabrice Bocquet, who had been promoted to chief executive officer in the summer of 2025.

Maurice Cohen returned alongside Jean-Pierre Rivère, who served as club president from 2011 until the summer of 2025, aside from a seven-month interruption linked to a change of ownership prior to the arrival of British petrochemicals group Ineos in 2019.

Jean-Pierre Rivère, an adviser to Éric Ciotti (far-right) during the campaign for the Nice mayoral elections in March 2026, agreed to return as club president until the end of the 2025-26 season at the request of Ineos. He remains president of the OGC Nice endowment fund.

The announcement came as negotiations conducted by Ineos with several investment funds regarding a potential sale of the club collapsed in June 2026, according to Nice-Matin and L’Équipe.
