UEFA: suspended ban from European competitions for 3 seasons and €10m in fines for Olympique de Marseille

A suspended ban from UEFA club competitions for the next three seasons (2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29), a €6m fine and restrictions on the registration of new players in the Europa League for the 2026-27 season were imposed on Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1 McDonald's) by the First Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB), the European confederation announced on 17 June 2026.

The decision sanctioned Olympique de Marseille for failing to meet the target set under the settlement agreement signed between the club and UEFA in 2022, which covered the financial years ending in 2023, 2024 and 2025. The exclusion from UEFA competitions will only be enforced if the club "fails to comply with the football earnings target in the 2026-27 season," UEFA said, adding that, during its assessment, it had "taken into account the significant and unexpected collapse of domestic broadcasting revenues affecting French clubs in the 2025-26 season and continuing to affect them in the 2026-27 season."
