It previously hosted matches during the 2003 Women’s World Cup in the United States.

The stadium is owned by American businessman Robert Kraft through his holding company Kraft Group, which has invested approximately $550m in modernising the venue since 2002. It is notably distinguished by its 22-storey lighthouse, rising 66.4 metres and featuring a panoramic observation deck, as well as the largest curved video board at a sports venue in the United States, covering approximately 22,000 square feet (2,040 m²).
