Italy: "Euro 2032 is the mother of all battles" (Giovanni Malagò, newly elected FIGC president)

"Euro 2032 is the mother of all battles. I have already held discussions with UEFA, with Michele Uva (ITA), who is responsible for organising the tournament, and with president Aleksander Ceferin (SVN). We have to select five stadiums. We cannot afford to make a poor impression," Giovanni Malago, who was elected president of the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio on 22 June 2026, said.

He received 68.58% of the votes in the first round during the electoral federal assembly held in Rome (ITA), while his sole opponent, Giancarlo Abete, obtained 29.17% (2.25% blank votes).

UEFA awarded the hosting rights for Euro 2032 to Italy and Turkey on 10 October 2023. "I call on the FIGC to seize this opportunity to invest in facilities, stadiums and infrastructure, and to deliver a memorable Euro," Armand Duka (ALB), UEFA vice-president, said during the Italian Football Federation’s federal assembly.
