2026 World Cup: cumulative attendance reaches 3,605,357 as of 26 June, setting all-time tournament record

A total of 3,605,357 spectators attended the first 58 group stage matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, setting a new all-time attendance record for the tournament, FIFA, the competition’s organiser, announced on 26 June 2026.

The previous attendance record for a World Cup had been set in 1994, when 3.58 million spectators attended matches in the United States. That edition featured 24 teams and a total of 52 matches, whereas the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, is the first to involve 48 teams and includes 104 matches.

The new record, achieved with 46 matches still to be played, was driven in particular by another tournament record, as 384,206 spectators attended the matches played on 25 June.
