A total of 4,644,549 spectators from 210 countries and territories attended the 72 group-stage matches of the 2026 World Cup, for an average fill rate of 99.7%, FIFA announced on 28 June 2026.

The tournament has already set a new all-time attendance record, with the 32 knockout matches still to be played. The previous World Cup attendance record was set in 1994, when 3.58 million spectators attended matches in the United States. That edition featured 24 teams and 52 matches, whereas the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, is the first to involve 48 teams and 104 matches.

The new record was driven in particular by another tournament milestone, as 426,834 spectators attended matches on 25 June, setting a new single-day attendance record. As of 29 June, eight matches had attracted crowds of more than 80,000.

Meanwhile, more than 5.5 million fans gathered at the 13 FIFA Fan Festivals, consuming almost two million soft drinks and bottled waters as well as more than two million alcoholic beverages. A record 527,402 visitors attended the festivals on 24 June…
