FIFA: 39 million new social media followers since start of 2026 World Cup

FIFA has gained 39 million new followers across its social media platforms since the start of the 2026 World Cup on 11 June 2026, the governing body announced on 28 June 2026.

The organisation has notably gained 16 million followers on its dedicated World Cup TikTok account, which reached 73.8 million followers as of 29 June, while its YouTube channel added five million subscribers to reach 30.7 million, FIFA said.

"FIFA content has generated 17 billion impressions and one billion engagements across all social media platforms. TikTok and YouTube, the two preferred platforms, have alone generated eight billion video views, while total video views across all social media platforms have reached 11 billion. Engagement and video views have already surpassed the levels recorded during the entire 2022 World Cup in Qatar," the organisation added.

FIFA’s World Cup social media accounts totalled 256.8 million followers as of 29 June 2026, including 75 million on Facebook, 73.8 million on TikTok, 64.2 million on Instagram, 30.7 million on YouTube and 13.1 million on X.
