Spain / Liga F: clubs approve €55m investment from Gasol16 Ventures

Liga F clubs have approved a €55m commercial investment agreement with Gasol16 Ventures, the investment vehicle of former Spanish basketball player Pau Gasol, backed by merchant bank Fortified Partners, the women’s league announced following its Extraordinary General Assembly held on 29 June 2026.

The funds, which will be disbursed over four seasons, are intended to "support the development of Liga F’s commercial and operational structures, strengthen a sustainable business model for the competition and its clubs, foster its international expansion and increase the visibility of its players."

The arrangements governing the coexistence of this agreement with the existing contract between LALIGA and Liga F have not been specified. Since the launch of Liga F in 2022, LALIGA had committed to investing €42m over the 2022-2027 period to support the commercial development of the competition.

Liga F, chaired by Beatriz Álvarez, described the agreement with Gasol16 Ventures as "the largest private investment ever made in a women’s football league and one of the most significant in the history…
