Spain: "The ”Centenary World Cup” has already begun" (Rafael Louzán, president of the RFEF)

"The 2026 World Cup will conclude in just under 20 days, and Spain will then officially take over to lead the next major challenge in world football. The ”Centenary World Cup” (in 2030, marking 100 years since the first edition held in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1930) is no longer a project. Our World Cup has already begun. It is a reality that we are building day by day. Every meeting, every decision, every investment and every institutional commitment is now part of the road to 2030," Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), said during the federation’s Ordinary General Assembly on 30 June 2026.

"The 2030 World Cup will be far more than a sporting competition. It will be a unique celebration in the history of sport. For the first time, a World Cup will unite six countries across three continents. It will begin where it all started 100 years ago, with the opening matches in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, before continuing in Morocco, Portugal and Spain, bringing together America, Africa and Europe through football in a shared story. We want the 2030…
