FIFA / 2026 World Cup: record cumulative attendance of 6.81 million across all 104 matches

A total of 6,810,966 spectators attended the 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup, FIFA, the tournament organiser, announced on 20 July.

This marks a new all-time attendance record for the competition, well above the previous record set at the 1994 World Cup in the United States, when 3.58 million spectators attended matches. That edition featured 24 teams and 52 matches, whereas the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, was the first to involve 48 teams and 104 matches.

The final, won 1-0 by Spain against Argentina, drew 80,663 spectators at New York New Jersey Stadium (East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA) on 19 July, for a 100% fill rate.
