"The independent Investigatory Chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee is carrying out several proceedings into football officials on suspicion of breach of the FIFA Code of Ethics based on the findings of the investigation into the decision for the 2018 (awarded to Russia) and 2022 (awarded to Qatar) World Cups," announced Cornel Borbély, the chairman of the Independent Investigatory Chamber on 17/06/2015.

"Should new evidence come to light, the Investigatory Chamber will widen the group of suspects. The Investigatory Chamber has taken the necessary preparatory measures for this and is prepared to increase its staff numbers at any time if needed," added Cornel Borbély.

The independent Investigatory Chamber did not disclose the names of those being investigated, nor the number of suspects or investigators for tactical reasons. Cornel Borbely has been the chairman of the Independent Investigatory Chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee since March 2015.
