Jesse Norman was appointed chairman of the House of Commons select committee responsible for Culture, Media and Sport on 17/06/2015. He succeeds John Whittingdale, who was appointed secretary of state for Culture, Media and Sport on 11/05/2015.

The candidacy of Jesse Norman, the MP for the constituency of Hereford and South Herefordshire, was chosen ahead of four other members of parliament, Damian Green, Jason McCartney, Stuart Graham and Damian Collins.
