FIFA Forward Enterprise: UEFA and its 55 member associations threaten to boycott FIFA’s competitions

"As a result of today’s discussion, no UEFA national teams will participate in any FIFA competition for so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that FIFA will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership," UEFA stated following an emergency meeting held via videoconference on 30 July 2026.

FIFA unveiled plans to establish a commercial entity ("FIFA Forward Enterprise") that would be open to private investors to manage the governing body's "commercial and event operations," on 28 July 2026.
