United Kingdom: Premier League and its clubs will generate €38.6bn economic impact between 2025 and 2028

The direct, indirect and induced economic impact of the Premier League and its clubs on the UK’s gross value added (GVA) - a measure close to GDP - is projected to reach £33bn (€38.6bn as of 30/06/2026) over the 2025-2028 cycle (three seasons), according to a study by the UK branch of audit and consultancy firm EY, published by the English top flight on 3 August 2026.

In addition, the Premier League and its clubs are expected to generate £14.8bn (€17.3bn) in tax revenues and support 107,600 full-time equivalent jobs each year. According to EY, the Premier League’s economic contribution to the UK has "grown 14-fold since the 1998-99 season," while the League says it now accounts for 40% of the entire UK sports sector’s GVA.

"The investment made possible by the Premier League across all levels of football and in communities will enable Premier League Foundation programmes and club charities to generate £4.3bn (€5bn) in social value between 2025 and 2028," the League added. A record 15.9 million spectators attended Premier League matches during the 2025-26 season.
