"During the World Cup, it was verbally communicated to me that if I endorsed (Gianni) Infantino (president of FIFA), it would go a long way to helping our FA. The whole situation amounts to blackmail and we refuse to give in to that," Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, president of the Jordan Football Association (JFA), said on X on 4 August 2026.

"We have been waiting since December (2025) for the prize money to reward our players who took part in the Arab Cup in Qatar, which is a FIFA event.
