FIFA: Norwegian football association calls for Gianni Infantino to step down and seeks governance review

"The Norwegian Football Federation is calling on Gianni Infantino to step down as FIFA president and is seeking a review of FIFA’s governance, believing the time has come for a change in the organisation’s leadership. It also intends to launch an initiative to carry out a comprehensive review of FIFA’s governance and its reform programme," the NFF announced on 7 August 2026 following an executive board meeting held on 6 August.

The federation’s statement comes six days after Gianni Infantino abandoned the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project on 1 August 2026. Unveiled on 28 July without prior consultation either within the football community or inside FIFA itself, the proposal would have created a commercial subsidiary open to private investors to manage the governing body’s commercial…
