Environment: UEFA launches new methodology to measure impact of supporter travel

Helping clubs, leagues and national associations better understand and measure the environmental impact of supporters travelling to football matches is the aim of a new methodology "developed in collaboration with the Premier League, Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and Bundesliga (ex-DFL)," presented by UEFA on 24 August 2026.

"A better understanding of travel-related emissions is an important first step towards identifying opportunities to reduce them," the European football’s governing body said.

"Although clubs and event organisers cannot directly control how supporters travel, they can help shape more sustainable choices through better transport information, partnerships with public transport providers, improved cycling facilities and incentives that encourage lower-carbon…
