FIFA: Italian Football Federation withdraws support for Gianni Infantino’s 2027 candidacy

The Italian Football Federation has withdrawn its support for Gianni Infantino’s candidacy in the FIFA presidential election for the 2027-2031 term, scheduled to take place in Rabat (MAR) on Thursday 18 March 2027, the FIGC announced on 26 August 2026.

"This decision is intended to clearly and transparently express the FIGC’s position, fully in line with that of UEFA and its president Aleksander Ceferin, regarding the recent initiatives promoted by the president of FIFA in the areas of governance and the development of international competitions," the Italian Football Federation said.
