UEFA: threat to boycott FIFA competitions suspended, independent review of FFE requested

Representatives of national associations serving on the UEFA Executive Committee, European FIFA Council members and presidents of UEFA national associations "unanimously mandated the UEFA president and administration to pursue every available institutional, political and legal avenue necessary to secure fundamental reform, restore proper limits on presidential authority and ensure that FIFA is once again governed as an institution - not around one individual," UEFA said in a statement published on 27 August 2026 following a meeting in Monaco on the sidelines of the 2026-27 UEFA club competition draws.
