Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli defeated New Zealand’s Auckland FC 1-0 at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) in the first of five matches of the third edition of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in its new format, featuring the champions of each of FIFA’s six confederations (AFC, CAF, OFC, CONMEBOL, Concacaf and UEFA), on 26 August 2026.

Al-Ahli are taking part in the competition as winners of the AFC Champions League Elite, while Auckland FC represented the OFC after winning the inaugural OFC Professional League.

The Saudi Arabian club will face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns FC, the reigning African champions, for the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup. The match is scheduled to take place in Pretoria (South Africa) on 19 September 2026.
