Player development: UEC simulator estimates amounts that could be paid to training clubs

€2.5m for Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's), €2.3m for AZ Alkmaar (VriendenLoterij Eredivisie), €2.1m for RB Salzburg (Admiral Bundesliga) and €2m for KRC Genk (Jupiler Pro League) and Manchester United FC (Premier League) are the amounts that would have gone to the five best-rewarded UEFA clubs at the end of the 2025-26 season (excluding those competing in the Champions League at the time) if 5% of UEFA club competition revenues had been redistributed to training clubs, according to the simulator presented by the UEC on 1 September 2026.

This online simulator, which calculates player development rewards (see below for access), "hows what the Player Development Reward (PDR) could mean in practice — club by club, player by player — using real development histories, UEFA competition minutes and prize-money data," the Union of European Clubs said.

As such, Olympique Lyonnais tops the ranking across Europe, having contributed to the development of 24 players who competed in UEFA club competitions in 2025-26, including Bradley Barcola, who won the Champions League with Paris…
