Germany: extraordinary DFB congress called to approve the spin-off of the Women’s Bundesliga

The Deutscher Fussball Bund (DFB) executive committee has called an extraordinary DFB congress for 18 September regarding the future of the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga, the federation announced on 3 September 2026.

The congress will be asked to adopt the statutory amendments required for the spin-off of the German women’s league and approve the contractual framework allowing its transfer to Frauen-Bundesliga FBL eV, the association bringing together the 14 Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga clubs.

The congress has been called after the DFB and FBL eV also reached an agreement on the licence agreement, which sets out the terms of the transfer of Germany’s top-flight women’s league to FBL eV. The two parties had already reached a framework agreement regarding the organisation and…
