FIFA: record $9.89bn spent and 12,575 international transfers during the 2026 summer window

Men’s professional football clubs made a record 12,575 international transfers during the 2026 summer transfer window (from 1 June to 2 September 2026), compared with 11,863 in 2025, up 6%, according to a FIFA report on the latest transfer window published on 3 September 2026.

Clubs closed the highest-spending summer window on record with $9.89bn in transfer fees (€8.5bn), up 1.5% on the previous record of $9.74bn set in 2025.

English clubs accounted for both the highest number of player transfers (512 arrivals and 596 departures) and the highest expenditure ($3.02bn/€2.6bn). French clubs, however, recorded the highest transfer revenues ($1.7bn / €1.46bn).
