Premier League: Niaz Shazad (ex-City Football Group) appointed finance director of Sunderland AFC

Niaz Shazad has been appointed finance director of Sunderland AFC (Premier League), he announced on 4 September 2026.

The British executive was previously chief financial officer of Bolton Wanderers FC (from 2024 to 2026), after serving as head of finance at City Football Group for the operations of Manchester City FC and their women’s team (Barclays Women’s Super League).

Niaz Shazad will work under Mike Papadimitriou, the club’s chief financial officer and chief operating officer since 2025.
